Services
Balcor delivers disability services under the NDIS to Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal community members in the Top End region of the Northern Territory. We pride ourselves on our ability to deliver high quality and culturally sensitive care to people with a disability.

Community Daily Activities
Balcor has daily activities programs in remote Aboriginal communities focusing on social and community participation, capacity building, and life skills development. We understand the importance of preserving cultural traditions while promoting community engagement. Other activities may include fishing and hunting, art workshops, storytelling and language sessions that not only provide recreational opportunities but also teach traditional practices and foster a deeper connection to the land. Our daily programs are conducted by local Aboriginal men & women from the community.
Balcor not only encourages social interaction and inclusion but also empowers individuals by developing essential life skills and building their capacity to actively participate in their community and wider society.
Respite
Balcor provides respite services to participants, offering much-needed support and relief to both individuals with disabilities and their carers within remote Aboriginal communities. Recognising the unique challenges faced by Indigenous families, Balcor ensures culturally sensitive and appropriate respite care. Their respite services encompass various forms of support, including short-term breaks, and community-based respite options. This allows carers to have some time off from their caregiving responsibilities, promoting their well-being and preventing burnout. During the respite period, participants receive personalised care that respects their cultural background and traditions, ensuring their comfort and sense of belonging. Balcor's respite services aim to enhance the quality of life for all participants and their families, fostering a supportive environment that promotes health, rest, and rejuvenation.

Support Coordination
Balcor offers support coordination services to participants, aiming to assist them in navigating the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) and accessing the supports they need. Support coordinators from Balcor work closely with individuals with disabilities, their families, and their communities to develop personalised plans that align with their unique cultural and social needs. They act as advocates and guides, helping clients understand their NDIS plans, connecting them with appropriate service providers, and coordinating various supports and services. Balcor's support coordinators have a deep understanding of the challenges faced by Indigenous communities and work collaboratively with participants to ensure their cultural values and traditions are respected and incorporated into their support plans. By providing support coordination, Balcor plays a vital role in empowering Indigenous individuals with disabilities to exercise choice and control over their supports and achieve their goals. We ensure service agreements and service bookings are completed and that you have choice and control over your supports.
Recovery Coach
Balcor provides recovery coaching which involves supporting individuals with disabilities in their recovery journey, focusing on their physical, emotional, and social well-being. Recovery coaching aims to empower individuals to regain control of their lives, increase their independence, set goals, and develop strategies to overcome challenges and achieve their desired outcomes. Balcor recovery coaching may involve working closely with clients to identify their strengths, interests, and aspirations. Coaches provide guidance and support in creating personalised recovery plans, which may include accessing appropriate healthcare services, engaging in therapeutic interventions, developing coping strategies, and building a support network. Recovery coaches from Balcor may assist clients in navigating the NDIS system, understanding their funding options, and accessing the necessary supports and services available to them. They may also provide advocacy, ensuring that clients' needs and preferences are recognised and addressed within their NDIS plans. Recovery coaches will work collaboratively with you, your family and carers to design, plan, implement and review a recovery plan.
